Fundraising for NICUs

Our aim with ByBoet is to raise funds to support research. Also, based on our own experiences, we want to provide less medically-essential items for NICUs, that are so very important to support the babies and their families.

Over the last few years we have been able to donate 26,000$ to MCRI! We are so immensely proud of all we have achieved. We couldn't have done it without your support, dedication and love.

The funds continue to be used to support research. Research lead by one of Boet's main doctors, Professor David Tingay. The research aims to better understand preterm lung function straight after birth.

Our 2025 fundraiser

Preparations for this years fundraising events are well and truly on it's way. On top of that we, Boet's parents, have been involved in numerous initiatives in both Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne as the Perth Children's Hospital to help further research and care for little babies. This year our main focus for our fundraising will be our bakesale for those delicious Dutch/Boet cookies and cakes!

Our fundraising efforts will go again to research at the Murdoch Children's Reseach Institute (MCRI). Our findraising efforts in earlier years has supported the PRELIM study. This foundational research helped secure a government grant to launch BLUEPRINT, a study with the potential to transform care for thousands of preterm infants across Australia and beyond. BLUEPRINT will track the respitory health of infants from NICU discharge until the age of two, using advanced tools not widely available to doctors.

There is limited support available for families living in regional areas, to visit the research institute as part of the follow-up. This year's fundraising efforts therefore will support these families, by supporting their travel to MCRI and to enable the research team to visit regional centres for pre-discharge assessments.

Here is a little video of research already completed for full-term babies. Funds raised will support MCRI's Associate Professor David Tingay and his research to better understand newborn infants' respiratory outcomes. Through this research, David and his team hope to develop new ways to diagnose preterm lung injury, allowing doctors to properly treat preterm babies at the right time to improve quality of life and life expectancy. As you can imagine, this research is very close to our hearts and has a very strong alignment to everything ByBoet stands for; We want to help to the next Boet to make it home.

Yes, we will eat (and bake) cookies again!
